At certain times throughout my life I have struggled to find the motivation to work. My desire to exert effort has ebbed and flowed over the years and until recently, my understanding of that experience was minimal. In the early years I didn’t question much of anything, believing that low motivation was a given and I trusted that I needed to keep working hard to succeed in life. In the years since school the routine of working, earning, saving & spending meant that although doubts about my chosen path were present, they didn’t receive the attention that they deserved.
In 2015, a friend of mine was turning 21. Given her infatuation with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at the time, some other friends and I decided we would recreate the Bound 2 music video for her as a gift. As we re-used the original audio, my attempts to share it online back then were unsuccessful as the video was automatically copyright striked and deleted. Recently, I went digging through my old hard drives trying to find the video so I could enjoy watching it again.
Motivation Last year I crossed bungy jumping off my bucket list and it was far from a carefree experience. A few years ago, I yelled at a friend at the mouth of a volcano because I was panicking about falling in. My fear of heights manifests as a queasy feeling and light-headedness whenever I get close to a steep drop or look over the railing of a balcony. Maybe it’s because I have a wild imagination and I can see myself involuntarily leaping over if I linger for too long.
TL;DR: I made a game and you can play it here:
TreePose by satbot After years of talking about releasing an app or a game and many failed attempts, I can finally say that I’ve done it. I’ve written this post to help anyone who has struggled to finish a project in the past, and included some resources that helped me along the way. Here’s how I approached the work and what I did differently to my past projects to ensure that I would complete it.
